English as a Global Language

Question: Discuss about theEnglish as a Global Language. Answer: Introduction Rapid globalization has created the need for global communication and hence need for global language. The language needs to be such that it is understood and recognized by everyone in every place around the world. English has been selected as the language that is most recognized and accepted globally, making it the official language of the world. Main Idea English has been selected as the official global language as it has been dominating international business, culture and political history from a long time. Number of English speaker ranges from 300 to 450 million. English broadcast channels are found available in almost major parts of the world. In tourism English is the most preferred of all languages. Example English broadcast channels- CNN, BBC,MTV IMF and other world bodies offer translations but primarily conduct themselves in English. Conclusion English was the language of leading colonial nation Britain. English has also been merging with some 20 to 30 countries native languages. Hence English can be accepted as a global language.
